Producer FAQ

How will this partnership work?

If you come on board to produce one of our shows, you’ll be collaborating with us from the ground up—starting with the budget and ending (hopefully) with a completed first season and a cult following.

This is a true partnership. You’ll split 70% of the show’s equity with the showrunner (the writer/creative lead), and your rate will be part of the budget you help determine.

Is this a paid gig or is it for equity?

Both! Once the show is funded, you’ll get paid the rate you build into your own budget. So yes, you’re betting on the project—but if we raise the money, you’ll get your rate and your equity.

Until the money is raised, compensation is deferred. So we want folks who are willing to jump in early, help shape the show, and be part of getting it off the ground.

Who’s funding it and how?

We (CandieTV) are handling the fundraising. We’re doing this through a mix of:

  • Product placement deals

  • Angel investors

  • Sponsorships and other creative channels

We don’t expect you to raise funds yourself—but having a well-crafted, lean, and compelling budget will help us close that money faster.

What’s the budget range for these shows?

It varies by project, but the first three episodes typically land between $8,000 and $25,000 per episode.

That’s not a lot—we’re going scrappy. Ideally non-union for now. We’re trying to build something stylish and sustainable without blowing cash on fluff. You’ll be helping us figure out how to make it work.

What exactly is the producer responsible for?

You’ll spearhead the show’s production, plain and simple. That includes:

  • Helping set the budget

  • Hiring the crew

  • Managing the shoot

  • Overseeing post

The only thing you won’t be responsible for is the scripts—that’s on the showrunner. Everything else? Yours to command.

Can I bring my own team?

Absolutely. If you have trusted collaborators—DPs, editors, ADs—go for it. Your job is to get the show made right. You tell us what you need, and we’ll work with you to fit it into the budget.

Where do I need to be located?

Producers can be based anywhere in the US. Some shows may shoot in specific locations, but we’re open to remote-producing models where it makes sense.

Can I sell my show to a bigger platform once episodes are made?

That depends on the terms of the sale—but generally, if you’ve got equity in the show, you’ll participate in any upside. Whether or not you stay involved post-sale depends on what the buyer wants, but we’ll always advocate to keep original producers attached where possible.

How many shows are you staffing right now?

As many as we can fund! We have a growing catalog of shows—scripted, unscripted, and totally unclassifiable—and we’re looking to pair each with the right producer.

That said, not every show will get funded. You’re signing on to help shape something that might not happen right away. But if you’ve got the passion, and you're ready to roll the dice with us, we want you in the mix.

How do I apply?

Email us and tell us about your background. If we think it’s a fit, we’ll send you our private show catalog so you can pick one (or more) to dive into.

Should I have my own production company?

This would be a great help. Producers with their own companies are preferred, as it will make everything easier.

What comes next?

We will get in contact with you shortly after. If we feel we’d work well together, we will schedule a video interview to talk about you becoming a producer.
